Invitation to Worship
An Invitation from new Pastor Jenn Klein
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
These past three weeks have been a good spiritual discipline for me as I've worked through the Bible passages that have been significant and transformational to me. Last week I talked about the woman at the well and how Jesus met her in the midst of her life and offered her a drink of the water. This water was not Aquafina or Evian, this was the Living Water of God, Jesus himself, the water that quenches all thirst. The choice was hers to accept what was freely given. "Give me this water so I may never thirst again." In her plea, she received, and life as she knew it would never be the same. The same is true for us. What say you?
In the Gospel of John the Resurrected Jesus tells the disciples just before his ascension that he would send another, an Advocate, to guide them and help them live the "gospeled" life as they had come to know. On the Festival of Pentecost the gift of the Holy Spirit came and changed the world ... It gave birth to the church.
This week I'll unpack the mystery of the Holy Spirit as I have come to know It and how when my personal Pentecost moment came, I was called to ministry. As you prepare for worship this week recall your own spiritual experience of the Spirit. Do you associate Holy Spirit with the image of a dove? the wind? tongues of fire? none of these or maybe a mix of all?
I invite you to be in prayer over the next couple of days inviting the Holy Spirit to come upon you, the people of Country Club United Methodist Church and the surrounding community that we may be changed for the glory of God.
Spirit God Prayer
Spirit God, you know our needs
our wounds
our hurts
our fears
even before we can form them into words of prayer.
You are patient with us.
You are protective of us.
You are present with us
until such time that we are able
to ask for what we need.
Thank you, Spirit God,
for your healing taking place within
before we are even aware
of how broken we have become.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Jenn Klein
